Surplus Spending 101 | Nature = Creativity | It's Time To Say NO To Meetings
❤️ What We Liked
June 30th will be here before you can say, “Oh my God, it’s June 30th?!” If you’re one of the chosen ones, the end of the financial year may mean you have some marketing surplus you need to spend.
With that in mind, here’s a video us Smithies filmed during the week. Just some tips and ideas on how to spend that leftover moolah. Plus, there’s nothing like some shameless self-promotion for a Monday morning.
📌 What We Saved
Unyoked, a cabin provider in Australia, conducted a study on creativity in the workplace. What they found was that being in nature naturally boosts creativity. But that doesn't mean you should go hug the first tree you see! It's a bit more complex than that.
Being outside isn't just eating your lunch on the nature strip. It's about spending quality time in the outdoors. Days, weeks, months if you can. Moreover, disconnecting in nature enhances problem-solving by up to 50%, aligning with Unyoked's mission to be the 'Nike of nature'. Co-founder Cam Grant calls nature "a superpower in front of our noses”, and believes being outside in nature could be the answer to modern working life’s problems.
At Content Smith, we try and prioritise having a dose of greenery every day, but after this study, we should think about moving our offices to the outback.
📮 What We Shared
Let’s be honest. Sometimes meetings can really suck. They can kill productivity, and stop the momentum of a good working day. Did you know that nearly a third of meetings are unnecessary, costing millions annually?
It’s okay, acceptance is the first step in recovery. That’s why we want to share Camey O’Keefe’s meetings elixir. O’Keefe offers actionable solutions to reclaim wasted time. The first, rethink necessity. Only meet to decide, learn, bond, or act.
The second? You’ll have to check out the post here.
