BeReal Is Back ⭐️ | Performance Marketing is Failing You 📉 | Netflix Prices Soar!💰

❤️ What We Liked

BeReal was all the talk when it first hit the scene, but since then it’s dipped in popularity. However, in an attempt to be relevant again, the app is now introducing RealPeople, a feature diverging from its original premise of spontaneous friend sharing. RealPeople is now spotlighting famous individuals to humanise celebrities and foster connections with fans. Interesting right? 🙋‍♀️

Users can now access RealPeople through the Discovery tab. Despite BeReal's initial popularity, recent stagnation is attributed to a lack of updates, with new features challenging the app's original essence. 👏

We think it’s great to see the app listening to users and adapting to their needs. 🎧

📌 What We Saved

As we dive deeper into 2024, the digital marketing landscape is shaping up, and according to Business of Fashion, brand marketing is stealing the spotlight from performance marketing. But what's the difference? 🤔

Brand marketing crafts how people perceive a brand, while performance marketing zeroes in on clicks and sales. ⚠️

As consumers crave genuine brand connections, emotional ties in brand marketing are winning over quick gains from performance marketing. At Content Smith, we're all about brand awareness and we've already seen this approach work with our clients! Check out this TikTok to see how it all clicks. 👊

📮 What We Shared

Netflix is saying goodbye to its ad-free Basic plan, which we all know means… Upcoming price increases. Once its cheapest option, the Basic plan is being phased out as ad-based subscriptions soar. ✈️

Users affected by the change will need to migrate to pricier plans, which is very convenient for Netflix if you’re asking us. 😂

With the Steamers subscriber count hitting 260 million globally in Q4, we believe that the top-dog executives at Netflix are taking advantage of the insane numbers, and further price adjustments are coming our way. While it’s hard to blame a company for wanting to take advantage of soaring popularity, we have a feeling it’s going to lead to a few unhappy customers. 😩
