Over the past decade, Figma has increasingly challenged Adobe’s grip on the creative design industry and for good reason. The platform can be used on the web, runs natively on the cloud, is more affordable and allows for seamless collaboration. Canva has also historically been seen as a competitor to Adobe thanks to its user-friendly options and 'freemium' subscription model. 👨🏼🎨🖥️
Due to this competition, it made perfect sense for Adobe to set out to acquire Figma. To increase its ability to compete with Canva users. Until... European antitrust regulators (who are expected to launch a formal investigation into the acquisition later this year), expressed concerns about developing an anti-competitive environment in the industry.
